By invitation of the Fonds BKVB Kaleb will be working in the Rockston Studio's in Lusaka, Zambia for 3 months; from august 2008 onwards, as an artist-in-residence. www.sundvall.org/previous/africolor/rockston/index.html -- Zomerfestival Zuidoost 9-19 juli 2007 Together with some 50 children from Amsterdam Zuidoost ('de Bijlmer'), Justin van Duurling and Kaleb de Groot have worked two weeks on a huge fantasia-crocodile made of wood, paint a tent and other found materials. The crocodile was situated in the midst of the typical Bijlmerflats. The kids loved it. -- Militant Bourgeois 29 mei, aanvang 20.00 uur SMBA, Rozenstraat Amsterdam Als slotstuk van het project ‘Militant Bourgeois. An Existentialist Retreat’ van kunstenaar Chris Evans vindt op 29 mei de presentatie plaats van de gelijknamige publicatie. Naast een gesprek tussen Evans en Jelle Bouwhuis, curator van Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, geeft een aantal kunstenaars een presentatie van werk dat tijdens hun verblijf tot stand is gekomen. De presentatie is de afsluiting van het omvangrijke project van Evans in samenwerking met SMBA, dat bestond uit een tentoonstelling in voorjaar 2006 en het residentieproject in Amsterdam Westpoort van september tot en met december 2006. Uiteindelijk zijn bijna twintig kunstenaars in retraite gegaan. Voor sommigen was deze periode zeer productief. Retraite-kunstenaars van wie deze avond werk wordt gepresenteerd zijn: Pedro Bakker, Kaleb de Groot, Rachel Kruithof, Joris Lindhout, Anja Sijben, Adriano Sobral Soares en Niels Vis. De presentaties variëren van mondelinge introducties tot het tonen van video- en fotowerk. Het boek Militant Bourgeois bevat behalve beeldmateriaal ook drie essays, van Alex Farquharson, Robert Garnett en Jan Verwoert. De vormgeving is door Stuart Bailey. Militant Bourgeois is reeds in SMBA verkrijgbaar voor Euro 15,-.
